Dr. David B. Stewart is a Professor of Surgery and Division Chief of General Surgery at Southern Illinois University. His research on C. difficile infection involves ongoing work toward the development of antisense antibiotics targeting C. difficile, and the study of the role of fungi in C. difficile infection. His research funding as principal investigator has included industry, the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, and the NIH.
