Larry Danziger is a UIC Distinguished Professor, Director of the Infectious Disease Section of Pharmacotherapy, Department of Pharmacy Practice, College of Pharmacy at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is also the Executive Director of CADRE. Dr. Danziger’s research interests include basic and clinical research regarding both new and old antimicrobials. He has authored or coauthored 170 journal articles, 30 book chapters and 141 research abstracts. He played a critical role in the redevelopment of the antibiotic paromomycin (originally developed in the 1950s), in collaboration with WHO, which resulted in its EUA approval in 2005 as a therapeutic agent for the treatment of visceral leishmaniasis.
