Dr. El-Nachef established the fecal microbiota transplant program at the University of California, San Francisco in 2014 and served as co-director of the Microbial Restoration Therapy program. She has performed hundreds of FMTs for patients with recurrent C. difficile colitis and in clinical trials investigating FMT in Inflammatory Bowel Disease. She now serves as the Director of Academics at Henry Ford Health and continues to perform research in Inflammatory Bowel Disease and therapeutics that manipulate the microbiome.
