Dr. Ronald Hsu obtained his Medical Degree from the University of Wales, College of Medicine, United Kingdom, and a Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of California Davis Medical Center. He is a Clinical Professor at the University of California Davis School of Medicine and is the Regional Advisor USA (West) for the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh, United Kingdom. He served as Director of Endoscopy of the UC Davis GI Fellowship Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy Training Program and as the Medical Director of Gastroenterology at the Sutter Roseville Medical Center, and is now the Medical Director of the Sutter Roseville Endoscopy Center.

He is the current American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) Governor for Northern California and Regional Councilor for the Board of Governors. He is a committee member of the Educational Affairs, Practice Management, International Relations, and Legislative & Public Policy Council and a past member of the Patient Care Committee. He completed a Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation preceptorship in Inflammatory Bowel Disease at Cedar Sinai Medical Center. He co-chaired the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation (CCF) Northern California Medical Advisory Committee, and now serves on the CCF National Scientific Advisory Committee.

Dr. Hsu is the principal investigator for the National Institute of Health (NIH)-funded and American Gastroenterology Association (AGA)-sponsored Fecal Microbiota Transplantation (FMT) National Registry at Sutter Health site NCT03325855. He specializes in inflammatory bowel disease, endoscopic eradication therapy for Barrett’s esophagus and dysplasia, radiofrequency ablation, endoscopic mucosal resection, eosinophilic esophagitis, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography for pancreaticobiliary diseases, fecal microbiota transplantation, and endoscopic therapy for gastrointestinal cancers. His clinical interests include the management of inflammatory bowel disease, gut microbiome in health and disease, Clostridioides difficile infections, prevention of colorectal cancer, and management and prevention of esophageal cancer. In addition to conducting clinical trials and publications, he directs hands-on endoscopy workshops, continuing medical educational conferences, and community outreach programs.

He has received numerous awards, including the ACG Community Service Award, ACG Board of Governor’s Service Award, ACG Service Award for Colorectal Cancer Outreach, Prevention & Year-Round Excellence (SCOPY), American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) Achievement in Endoscopy Education and Top Doctors. He is a Fellow of eight international medical colleges and societies.
